Flawless skin: the right foundation for your skin type

I have realised that a lot of people don't know what kind of foundation is well suited for their skin types. Below I have listed a couple of skin type descriptions, to help you determine your skin type and theresfter, the type of foundation you must use: STEP 1. Recognizing Your Skin Type… Read the five descriptions below to determine which type of skin you have. Take note that your skin type can change with the seasons as well as with age. Your skin is normal if the… Complexion is even Surface is neither too oily nor too dry Pores are small in size Face is supple with few lines, creases and wrinkles Face has few breakouts   Your skin is oily if the… Face has all over shine Shine happens quickly Pores are large and/or open Face suffers from frequent blemishes (blackheads and/or whiteheads) Face has minimal lines and wrinkles     Your skin is combination if the… T-zone is oily Skin on the cheeks is normal to dry Skin suffers from breakouts on chin, nose, cheeks or forehead Pores on the chin and cheeks are enlarged   Your skin is dry if the… Pores are undetectable Face looks and feels dry and tight Complexion has a ruddy appearance Cheeks and/or chin are flaky and dry Face has lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth   Your skin is Sensitive if the… Face has blotchy patches (dry or red) Skin is delicate or thin Face has sensitivity to products (burning or flushing) Now that you know your skin type, it is very important to choose a formulation that will meet your specific needs. For example, if your skin is dry and you have been using a foundation with no moisture, you will not get the flawless skin you desire. All you will do is further dehydrate your skin, accentuate the dryness and showcase the fine lines. By choosing a formulation designed to complement your skin type, your face will look supple, youthful and healthy. STEP 2: Choosing your proper formulation… There are 5 main textures of foundation. Each one is specially formulated to meet the needs of specific skin types. 1. Cream Foundation is ideal for: Normal, combination and dry skin. It is especially well suited for women with uneven pigmentation, or those requiring a heavier coverage. Coverage: Medium to full. Finish: Dewy. What it does: Covers and conceals discolorations and  imperfections on the skin providing a flawless finish. Application: Use a make up sponge or a foundation brush. Example: Maybeline's Matt mousse 2. Liquid Foundation is ideal for: All Skin types. It is especially well suited for dry or mature skin. Coverage: Light to medium Finish: Dewy, satin or matte depending on the formulation. What it does: Evens out the skin tone by smoothing out any unevenness. It also provides added moisture to the skin. Application: Use a make up sponge or a foundation brush. Example: Revlon colour stay liquid foundation. 3. Pressed powder foundation is ideal for: Oily skin Coverage: Light to medium. Finish: Matte. What it does: Evens out the skin tone, hides imperfections and absorbs excess oil. Application: Use a powder brush. The denser the bristles, the more product will be deposited on the skin. Example: MAC powder foundation 4. Mineral foundation is ideal for: All skin types (except oily). It is especially well suited for those with sensitive skin or rosacea. Coverage: Light to medium Finish: Matte. What it does: Evens out the skin tone, moisturizes, protects and absorbs excess oil. Application: Use a kabuki brush to buff it on. Example: Maybelline Mineral power powder. 5. Tinted Moisturizer is ideal for: Normal and dry skin. It is especially well suited for those who need extra hydration and just a touch of color to pull everything together. Example:Yardley Oatmeal foundation Moisturizer Coverage: Sheer to light. What it does: Lightly evens out the skin tone, while giving a true “no make up” look. Application: Use a foundation brush. Whatever your skin type, you have a variety of choices. Pick the one that is best for you and start reaping the benefits today. My favorite foundations and a note to those women with sensitive skin or rosacea: Sensitivity can occur in any skin type. After you diagnose which skin type is yours, be sure to choose your foundation from a line that is hypoallergenic, moisturizing, fragrance free, paraben free, and loaded with gentle sunscreens. And Ladies please know your colour. If you're buying make up for the 1st time, try it out and wear it for the whole day. So you can see how you look in diffrent places and different lighting.
